Grants & Loans
Many K-State students receive federal grants and/or loans based on family financial need. All loans and grants require submission of the FAFSA to determine eligibility. Qualified students also may borrow through emergency, alumni, and endowment funds to meet specific needs. Interested students should contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Federal Work-Study Programs
This program is part of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to assist students from low-income families by providing jobs on campus or with affiliated organizations. Students on work-study apply for jobs on campus in the same manner as any other student seeking part-time work. Eligibility is established by completing the FAFSA each year. The FAFSA Application is available at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
Application for Financial Aid
Qualification for most financial aid requires completion of the Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. It should be submitted by March 1 for priority consideration. The FAFSA may be submitted on-line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. Federal regulations require that financial aid recipients make satisfactory academic progress to remain eligible for assistance. Since enrollment, course completion rates, and GPA requirements are all combined to measure academic progress, students should contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance if they have questions regarding their eligibility. All information pertaining to and applications for the programs listed above may be obtained by contacting the office of: Student Financial Assistance, Fairchild Hall 104, (785)532-6420.
