Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to know about graduating?

It is important to know that "participating in commencement" and "graduating" are not the same thing, nor do they have the same requirements. "Graduation" means a student has completed all necessary courses and has been approved by Ag Student Records and the Registrar's Office. Receiving the invitation to participate in commencement does not imply that the student has been cleared for graduation. To ensure appropriate steps are taken to graduate from the university, please refer to the online graduation checklist here: Graduation Checklist. Additionally, access information regarding graduation from the College of Agriculture in the student handbook, here: Degrees and Graduating. Questions regarding a student's eligibility to graduate should be directed to the Ag Student Records office.

What should I know when I arrive at Bramlage Coliseum for commencement?

Students participating in the College of Agriculture commencement ceremony must arrive at Bramlage Coliseum by no later than 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Students should enter through the southwest doors, and will receive instructions for lining up in the concourse from faculty representatives within their major. Students must be wearing academic apparel.

There is no area in which to check personal belongings.

The online ceremony guide has helpful guest information, parking instructions, and accessibility information as well. Please access it here: Ceremony Guide.

How do I obtain the required academic apparel?

All degree candidates must wear academic apparel during the commencement ceremony. Information on both obtaining and wearing academic apparel can be found here: Cap and Gown.

What do I do if I earned academic honors cords?

The College of Agriculture presents graduating students who have earned graduation honors with their graduation cords at the College of Agriculture Honors Reception, which takes place prior to the commencement ceremony. Those students will receive information from the college events coordinator regarding the reception during the semester in which they graduate. More information about graduation honors and eligibility can be found here: Graduation Honors. Questions regarding earning graduation honors should be directed to the Registrar's Office.
