General Agriculture

Wouldn’t it be great to patent a new food product, trade commodities at the Chicago Board of Trade, teach children about natural resources, or manage the playing field of a professional baseball team? These are just a few careers you can choose with a degree from K-State’s College of Agriculture. In college, you expect to find a career, meet people, try new things and make a difference. The College of Agriculture will help you exceed those expectations. With 16 majors, 14 minors and a variety of specialty options and elective courses, you can find your place in agriculture.

Student profile

"I chose the general agriculture program because I had only a vague idea of what I wanted to do when I came to college. I knew I was going to stay in agriculture but couldn’t decide what major fit my interests. With this major I was able to try a couple of classes in different areas to see which major was right for me."

Professional Opportunities

One in five people in the United States is employed in an agriculture-related field, but there is a shortage of university graduates with agriculture expertise. This means agriculture students can compete for jobs outside the traditional ag industry. Opportunities exist in business, communications, conservation, education, international agriculture, research, production, and services.
