College of Agriculture


College of Agriculture faculty conduct research in agricultural and horticultural crops, livestock, natural resources and the environment.

Faculty members are supported by the Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station (KAES), which also supports faculty research in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Human Ecology, and Veterinary Medicine.

Agriculture is the largest industry in Kansas. According to USDA’s 2012 Census of Agriculture, the value of agricultural products sold was $18.5 billion, ranking Kansas 6th in the United States.

Livestock accounts for about 62 percent of the value of Kansas agricultural products sold, and crops account for 38 percent.

Kansas agriculture ranks in the top 5 among all states in a number of categories. Wheat, grain sorghum, and beef cattle rank in the top 3.
