During the summer of 2025, Cappi Hoeting has an internship with Kansas Wheat in Manhattan, KS.

Why did you choose to intern for your company?

I admire its reputation and the opportunity to work alongside a talented team. Through networking and learning more about the company, I saw a great fit between my skills and the projects they offer, which made me excited about the chance to contribute and grow professionally here.

What’s one of your favorite things about your internship?

One of my favorite things is the opportunity to collaborate with a supportive team. Working alongside professionals who are passionate about what they do has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve learned how to contribute to a team, take initiative and apply feedback to improve my work.

What are your responsibilities at your internship?

I manage social media platforms, create written and visual content for various channels, produce materials for print and digital, answer phones and welcome visitors. Additionally, I assist with special projects that support the organization’s marketing plan and fulfilling merchandise sales.

What are some opportunities your internship has provided you?

I’ve learned how to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms, expanded my professional network within the agriculture industry and improved my communication and interpersonal skills. I’ve also had the opportunity to participate in meetings to see how strategic decisions are made, explore different career paths within agricultural communications and collaborate with a professional marketing team.

How will your internship impact your future career?

My internship has given me valuable real-world experience. It’s helped me build confidence in my skills, especially in communication, design and collaboration. I've also gained a clearer understanding of what I enjoy doing and how I can apply those strengths in a professional setting, particularly within the agriculture industry. The connections I’ve made and the lessons I’ve learned will continue to guide me as I take the next steps in my career.

What advice do you have for those looking to get an internship next summer?

Start early, stay curious and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Reach out to professionals and take advantage of your network, especially through advisors, faculty and staff at K-State. Be open to internships that may be outside your comfort zone. Every experience is a chance to learn and grow.
