Meet Danielle Bogner
Major: Animal Sciences and Industry
Expected graduation year: 2027
Home town: Agate, CO
Why did you choose to attend K-State?
I knew I wanted to study agriculture in college, and Kansas State University has one of the top programs in the country. It was far enough away to explore a new area, but still close enough to go home when needed. The biggest selling point was visiting the campus, everyone was so welcoming, and it immediately felt like home. K-State offers big-school opportunities with a small-town feel.
Why did you choose your major?
I chose animal sciences and industry because of my passion for the livestock industry and the program’s flexibility. It allowed me to tailor my education toward my specific goals. K-State is one of the top universities in the country for animal science, so the decision was an easy one.
What’s your favorite part about being a College of Agriculture student?
The people. Fellow students are welcoming and supportive, and the faculty are unique. They truly care about our success, both during college and after graduation. I’ve loved the connections and opportunities the College of Agriculture offers.
Why did you get involved at K-State?
I wanted to make the most of my college experience and connect with others who share my passion for agriculture. The College of Agriculture felt like home from the start; it’s a place where students are supported, encouraged and challenged to grow. Getting involved has helped me build connections, develop leadership skills and give back to a community that has already given me so much.
Ag Ambassadors creates a welcoming, supportive and encouraging community. It’s a group that pushes you to be your best while also celebrating your successes along the way. The advisers truly care about you: not just as a student, but as a person. They’re always willing to help in any way they can. Through this organization, I’ve built lifelong friendships and gained a strong network of peers who share my passion for agriculture and leadership.
How is the College of Agriculture helping you toward your future plans?
The College of Agriculture is truly invested in the growth and success of its students. I’ve been provided with countless opportunities to develop professionally, connect with industry leaders and gain real-world experience. My classes are preparing me with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, while the supportive faculty and staff have helped me secure internships and build meaningful industry relationships.
What advice do you have for someone looking to be in the same field as you?
Make connections. Agriculture is a close-knit industry, and networking can take you far. People want to see you succeed, and having someone in your corner, as a reference, mentor or supporter, can make a big difference in your career within a company and outside of a company.
