Why did you choose K-State, the College of Agriculture and your major?
I chose K-State because of the tight-knit community and the park management program. I have always had a passion for the outdoors, and I wanted to expand on that. I never saw myself doing anything else.
What organizations were you involved in, and what impact did they have on you?
I was an Ag Ambassador, which was an awesome experience. It taught me perseverance, community and how many opportunities the College of Ag has for students! I was also a resident assistant, which taught me how important having a good community on campus is for students.
What accomplishment are you most proud of during your time at K-State?
I am proud of being the president and co-founder of Cultivating Change at K-State. I am so happy that I was able to start creating an inclusive and welcoming space for LGBTQ+ agriculture students.
What would you tell students who are interested in K-State or your major?
Come visit campus and feel the energy, the family vibes. It truly is like no other place. If students are considering park management and conservation, and are passionate about the outdoors, then it would be a great fit for them! The faculty are incredible, your peers are fantastic and the opportunities after college are endless.
What does being recognized as an Outstanding Senior mean to you?
It means the world to me. Being a queer student and someone who has worked very hard during their time at school, it was incredible to be recognized with my fellow accomplished peers. I have worked with many of them before, and it was incredible to stand beside them while winning this award.
