Meet Jedidiah GibsonJedidiah Gibson

Major: Food Science and Industry, Global Food Systems Leadership

Expected graduation year: 2027

Home town: Dallas, Texas

During the summer of 2025, Jedidiah Gibson has an internship with Land O'Lakes in Arden Hills, MN.

How did you learn about your internship?

Land O’Lakes is an active supporter of MANRRS, a club that helps students in agriculture, natural science and related sciences. This is my second internship with them, so after enjoying my time as an Answer Plot intern, I continued to work with them. Last year, the company had an amazing structure and offered a lot of resources for their employees. Additionally, the relationships I formed during my first internship made me love the company more.

What are your responsibilities at your internship?

This summer, I’m focusing on a project centered around herbicides and PNP take in weeds, with some additional research on weed control. This project was initially conducted in our greenhouses, but I am taking it out to the weeds in our fields. With the tests I’m running, I’ll be trying to prove the scientists' work in the greenhouse is successful, but also finding what complications someone could run into when using the chemicals outside versus a controlled environment, like a greenhouse.

What’s one of your favorite things about your internship?

One of my favorite things is the growth that Land O’Lakes is allowing me. They are open to letting me and the other interns pick their brains on topics we don’t know. They’re always going the extra mile to make sure we are learning and growing our network.

What advice do you have for those looking to get an internship next summer?

Fill out as many applications as possible, try new things and be open to relocation. Be yourself, be open to talking and asking questions. Show employers what you can offer that no one else can: show them your “it” factor.

I would recommend Land O’Lakes as a place students should consider for an internship. They have positions in lots of areas, including crop outputs, dairy products, test kitchen, corporate, sales, marketing and large animal feeds.
