Director of Advising, Retention, and Persistence

B.B.A in Accounting, Fort Hays State University, 1996

With more than 14 years of experience in higher education, Lisa brings a unique blend of private industry and higher education experience to her role. Her higher education career has spanned several student-focused areas, including financial aid, recruitment, student records, and academic advising. During her eight years at Kansas State University, she has been dedicated to supporting students throughout their academic journeys and helping them achieve their educational goals. In her current role, Lisa leads the College of Agriculture’s academic advising team and works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and university partners to strengthen advising, retention, persistence, and student success initiatives.

As a first-generation college graduate, Lisa is especially passionate about helping students build the connections and support systems that contribute to their success. She co-leads the College of Agriculture’s participation in MAPS and KOMPASS, university programs that help incoming students build community, connect with mentors and resources, and prepare for the transition to college. Lisa also helped develop AgFirst, the college’s first-generation student mentoring program, which trains first-generation upperclassmen to mentor and support incoming first-generation students as they navigate higher education. Through these programs and her leadership of the college’s advising efforts, Lisa is committed to creating an environment where students feel connected, supported, and empowered to thrive at K-State and beyond.
