Class Absence

In most cases, academic performance is directly related to class attendance. If at all possible, the instructor should be consulted prior to missing class for activities that take the student off campus.

Each instructor will establish the manner in which work missed may be made up. Students should be aware that in some courses, missed classes may result in an automatic reduction in grade, even if the absence is due to an official sponsored activity.

If a student will be absent from class due to illness, death/emergency in the family, or the attendance of a college activity, a letter of absence is available by contacting the Academic Programs Office with proof of absence at (785)532-6151 or in Waters 117.
