Degree Progress and DARS
A prescribed curriculum outlining total requirements for a bachelor’s degree within the College of Agriculture must be followed by the student in consultation with the faculty advisor. Obtain a copy of the curriculum requirements guide for the major and option within the major from the academic advisor. Curriculum requirements are also noted in the Undergraduate Catalog. Students should work closely with their advisor to best sequence courses and ensure that they are making progress towards a degree. Students and advisors will use the electronic degree audit system (DARS) to assist with monitoring progress toward completing degree requirements. Students should be aware of specific requirements for different options within majors, and must declare an option before a true assessment of progress toward a degree can be made. After completion of 85 hours of degree requirements, the Ag Student Records Office will review the DARS for accuracy and update as needed.
To declare or change your option within a major, notify your advisor and departmental student service office. When considering degree requirements, it is important to adhere to the following:
- A maximum of ten semester hours of problems and topics course work can be applied to the bachelor degree in agriculture.
- No more than three hours of performance course work can be applied to meet social science/humanities
requirements. - A total of eight hours of credit for extracurricular activities such as band, choir, athletics, or publications
participants can be applied to the degree with only 4 hours maximum from one area.
The departmental requirements related to the above points may be more stringent than the college policies.
