Agricultural Education

Agricultural Education students study a wide range of agricultural topics and specialize in working with people. Students enjoy learning about all areas including animal science, agribusiness, plant science, food science and agricultural mechanics.

Specialized Curriculum

Agricultural Education curriculum is customized by adding minors. The required courses provide students with a well-balanced introduction to agriculture and students select an additional 12 hours of elective credits in three content areas in the College of Agriculture which allows students to gain knowledge and experience in areas of interest. Many students choose to focus these elective hours in a specific area to obtain a minor.

Internships

Each agricultural education student completes a teaching internship during their final semester. The internship sites are located across the state of Kansas in a variety of schools and communities. During the internship, students work with a cooperating teacher to design instruction, advise the local FFA chapter and oversee student supervised agricultural experiences.

Involvement

Agricultural Education students are active in the College of Agriculture and hold leadership positions in university student organizations, statewide leadership and National Teach Ag Ambassadors. The Agricultural Education Club is a great way to develop friendships and gain leadership skills.
