Concentrations

Facilities

Students receive hands-on training at the Hal Ross Flour Mill. Built in 2006, this state-of-the-art, pilot-scale flour mill contains the same full-scale equipment and control systems found in the commercial flour milling industry today. In addition, the mill contains processing equipment designed for specialty products including sorghum, corn and soybeans.

Involvement

Students gain a first-hand look at the milling industry and gain valuable, practical experiences through paid internships and industry partnerships. The Milling Science Club provides an opportunity to join others with similar interests for professional and social activities. Club activities include milling flour and making baking mixes to raise money for experiences such as attending professional conferences. Top students in Milling Science are invited to be members of Alpha Mu, the grain science honorary.
